WHS School Safety Discussion

A public forum was held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 to discuss Winnacunnet High School safety.  Members of the public learned about Winnacunnet’s school safety policies, practices and procedures, and partnerships with local law enforcement.  Presenters included members of the school administration and staff, Hampton Police, Hampton Fire, and emergency responders. SAU #21 SCHOOL DISTRICTS RECEIVE $469,759 IN STATE FUNDING

 FOR SECURITY AND LIFE SAFETY UPGRADES.

 

On April 23, 2018 Seabrook School District received an additional $28,000 for a new Public Address System from the NH Public School Infrastructure Fund and Hampton Falls School District received $12,760 for Security Camera Installation.

The NH Dept of Education in accordance with RSA 198:15-y has approved applications for reimbursement of the following SAU #21 school districts from the NH Public School Infrastructure Fund. These projects will be completed during the 2018-19 school year, and funding is based on either 30% or 80% of the project costs.

Winnacunnet School District has been approved to receive funding for security upgrades to Winnacunnet High School in the amount of $270,912.00

  • Double Door Safety             $1,200.00
  • Exit Alarm Installation         $5,712.00
  • Security Camera Upgrade  $264,000.00

Seabrook School District has been approved to receive funding for security and life safety upgrades to the Seabrook Elementary/Middle School in the amount of $146,087.00

  • Flashing Beacon Notification System for the Gym and Cafeteria     $2,000.00(80%)
  • Safety Bollards                                                                             $7,200.00(80%)
  • Emergency Door Alarm System                                               $ 17,600.00(80%)
  • Sprinkler System Installation (SES)                                          $119,287.00(30%)
  • Public Address System                                                                 $ 28,000.00(80%)

North Hampton School District has been approved to receive funding for security upgrades to the North Hampton School in the amount of $12,000.00

Hampton Falls School District has been approved to receive funding for security upgrades to the Lincoln Akerman School in the amount of $12,760.00

Update 4/26/18

South Hampton Principal Appointment

On Tuesday, April 10, 2018, the South Hampton School Board accepted the nomination from Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Robert M. Sullivan, for Mr. Walter Huston, as Principal of the Barnard School.  Mr. Huston will follow Mr. Ken Darsney who is leaving at the end of this school year after serving the South Hampton Community for 6 years.

Mr. Huston has been working as a Teaching Principal since 2014 for the John D. Perkins, Sr. Academy of Marlow, in Marlow, New Hampshire.  He attended Gordon College for his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/Middle School Education, Lesley University for his master’s degree in Moderate Special Needs and Boston University for his C.A.G.S. in Administration, Policy, Planning.

Mr. Huston will assume his position as Principal of the Barnard School on July 1, 2018.
