Welcome to Seabrook Elementary School Online

Smarter Balanced Assessments

Starting in the spring of 2015, students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 will be taking the Smarter Balanced Assessments in the areas of English Language Arts/literacy and mathematics.  Test scores will be used for a variety of purposes including the improvement of student learning and for federal and state accountability determination.

The tests include a two-part summative assessment taken on a computer.  The first part will be a computer adaptive test and the second part will be a performance task.  Reports will be available to students, parents, teachers, and administrators to show student achievement and progress toward mastery of the Common Core State Standards.

Estimated testing times are listed below.

Practice and Training Tests

In order to help teachers prepare students for the assessments, sample items and performance tasks have been provided by the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium.  They provide an understanding of the depth of knowledge required, the item types used, and the skills needed for the technology-enhanced items.  These are not intended to be used as sample tests.  Teachers are encouraged to use them in whole-class settings where think alouds can begin to help students know what to expect.

Below, you will find the practice and training tests by grade levels.  A suggestion:  Before going to the online tests, read through the scoring guide to see what is expected of students in order to get the maximum score.  This will inform your work with students.
