Dear Parents,
We are thrilled to have six weeks in! As COVID begins to surge around us we are remaining vigilant with our practices here at school and we want to thank you for doing your part at home. Let's keep this going as long as we possibly can in a safe way! Here are a few announcements from staff and our Tiger Trot Committee. The annual Tiger Trot race is coming up and we would love to have as many participate as possible in the new virtual format. I have heard that the Tee Shirts this year are the best ever and it is our hope to have loads of kids wearing them to school! Please take a look at the following information and help us keep this wonderful event alive this year!
Have a great weekend,
Beth

Good afternoon,
Although the LAS Library is currently inaccessible to students, we are happy to offer a variety of remote resources and services. We would like to highlight a few of these here:
Students may now request books via the LAS online catalog, Destiny. We have created a video tutorial that is available on the library homepage explaining how this process works. Requested books will be delivered to students at school within a few days of the online request.
LAS now subscribes to Sora, which offers ebooks and audiobooks for students. We have posted a video tutorial on the library homepage explaining how to access Sora.
How do you access the library website? From the LAS homepage go to Departments-->Library Media Center.
On another note, as we are settling into our school routine we are beginning to distribute reminder notices to students who still have books checked out from the 19-20 school year. We recognize that we are living in challenging times which means that locating library books may be an issue. Also, it is possible that in the flurry of the end of the year we may not have accounted for a book you may have returned. Please reach out to us if you have any questions.
Thank you for your assistance!

Dear LAS families,
If your child is going to be absent, please complete both the health screening and the absence section in PickUp Patrol. Even if they are known to be ill and are waiting for a COVID test result to return, it is tremendously helpful to have the screening completed. This helps me keep track of absences along with Doreen and Beth in that brief window when they are welcoming students into the school in the morning.
If they are staying home and have any of the symptoms or the answer to any of the other screening questions is a “yes”, please select the “yes” option. If we have already spoken and you have nothing new to add, you do not need to call my number. If you have any questions or concerns and it is after hours, you can email me at hboyd@sau21.org.
Thank you so much for tackling the challenges of dealing with this pandemic - keeping your children at home because of a symptom like the sniffles may feel like overkill, but keeping the bar low for staying home will ultimately keep the risk of spreading COVID-19 in school low. I know this is a true hardship for many. I am so grateful for you all for your dedication to the health and safety of our LAS community.
Lastly, I have updated the School Health page, it includes links regarding COVID-19, school forms, school year requirements, etc.
Sincerely,
Heather Boyd, BSN, RN
