Friday notes (a little late!) - 12/6/20

Late last week we were informed that as of 12/3/2020, DHHS has made the following changes per the CDC changes earlier in the week.

Most notably these changes include:

1. Quarantine is decreased from 14 to 10 days for a person potentially exposed to COVID-19.

2. Quarantine is decreased from 14 to 10 days for a person who travels outside of New England.

3. The "testing-out of quarantine" (a negative test at/after 7 days) is not recommended and, as such, will not be adopted as an option for our staff or students.

As a result of these changes all of our students, K-8, will be back in school tomorrow.

Please be aware that the drop-off and pick up will most likely be a little bit slower than they have been for the last two. Also, please remember to have the health check completed before drop off, this helps us tremendously in the morning.

End of trimester 1

Our first trimester ended on Friday. As a result, the PowerSchool portal will be closed until Friday, December 11 when grades are completed and verified. Midweek I will be sending families directions to access the portal and more information about our report cards.

Trimester 2 will bring changes to each pod in Unified Arts offerings. Our K-2 pod will add Art classes and still have 2 days of PE and Library.

Pod 3-5 will have Music, Spanish and part-time Library, and Pod 6-8 will add Wellness and PE.

Food Drive

Our local food pantries have reached out to let us know that they are in need of food items and we are happy to help out. We will be collecting dry food items as well as canned foods for the next two weeks. Canned veggies, pasta, cereal, and those kinds of items are welcome. We will put a bin out front and if you think of it at drop off or pick up, or, if you drive through during the day, we will have it near the front door. From there, our Mission Impact Club of 7th and 8th graders, will organize the items and deliver them to the pantry. Our Mission Impact Club is a group of thoughtful students that engage in community service related projects, we hope that you can help them/us out!

STEM Activity Opportunity

Jodi Kriner, an LAS parent shared this fun opportunity with us and wanted to share it with all of you. CONNECTED-LEARNER-FLIER-decemberevents.pdf

Lastly, we are looking forward to having everyone back tomorrow! We have 2 1/2 weeks before a break and hoping we get there without a challenge! Thanks for your support.
