Dear Parents,
We have a lot of new activities going on at LAS. Our Theatre Productions, Seussical for K-4 students and Twice Upon a Time for 5-8 students, have finished auditions, and practices are in full swing for the next several weeks.
Our famous Floor Hockey Club for 5-8 students begins this week. This popular activity allows our students to stay active between the winter and spring seasons.
Our fourth grade Maple Sugaring Project is starting its 31st year at LAS! Maple Sugaring is fully integrated into the 4th-grade curriculum with instruction and experiences in all academic areas. Lessons include the traditional syrup pitchers made on the pottery wheel in art class, filming maple syrup commercials, designing print advertisements, understanding the science of sap flow, and learning about maple syrup production.
Our LAS Annual Sugaring Off Party is scheduled for Saturday, March 9th, from 9-2:00 at our Sugar Shack. This party is open to all families.
The Annual Pancake Breakfast for 4th-grade students and families will be scheduled for early April.
Staff member Amy McAvoy is volunteering her time to start an LAS chapter of Girls on the Run for students in Grades 3-5.
Girls on the Run inspires individuals of all abilities to discover, build, and grow their self-confidence. Together, they experience a sense of belonging and connection as a team. Volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy. At the end of the season, the team completes a Community Impact Project and a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.
If you are a runner and interested in helping out, please reach out to Amy via the contact form on our website here.
Just a reminder that NH Public Schools have a regular school day on President's Day, Monday, Feb.19th. We are credited with the holiday the following week, our vacation week.
Have a good week,
Beth
