Welcome

For the past two years, the Portrait of a Learner Plan has played a pivotal role in shaping our vision and guiding actions within SAU 21. The dedicated Portrait of a Learner Committee has diligently built upon previous achievements across all our districts. While there are numerous accomplishments to celebrate, we acknowledge that our journey is far from complete. A significant contributor to the success of our plan has been the active involvement of our community in its development and execution. In order to harness this momentum, the Portrait of a Learner Committee has taken the initiative to establish more tangible benchmarks for success. Kids playing soccer

The process to get to this point was substantial. The team has facilitated a series of focus group discussions concerning how best to ensure that students attain all the competencies and priorities associated with the adopted Portrait. We have carefully documented input from parents, educators, and business leaders within our community. This comprehensive process has led us to articulate five core guiding priorities: academics, mindsets, essential life skills, physical and mental well-being, and community engagement.

There is a strong connection between the work of the Portrait of a Learner and the resulting strategic planning goals. The Portrait of a Learner, in our perspective, lays the philosophical groundwork for practical and actionable steps across our five districts. This approach reflects the adaptability and independence of each district while uniting us under common priorities and principles.

We are delighted to present the SAU 21 Strategic Plan for 2024 to 2029:
